One in three drivers cannot see properly while driving, according to latest research by vision specialist Ultralase.
Bad eyesight has resulted in 20% of drivers having a driving related incident, including damaging their vehicle through bumps and crashes.
Breakdown cover can help you out when accident occur, but having corrected eyesight would save time and money.
Millions of drivers admit having difficulty when driving in the dark and reading road signs. The research has caused a nationwide campaign by Ultralase with an online petition for compulsory eye tests to be made part of qualifying for a driving licence.
The move is supported by almost one in nine (89%) of the population. The survey involved 2,000 drivers and was conducted by Ultralase, with support of road safety charity Brake.
Martin Howard, from Brake said: "Get your eyes tested at least every two years, and never drive without glasses or lenses if you need them."
