Former Libertines frontman and musician Pete Doherty has been banned from driving for 12 months and fined £500 after he allowed his manager to drive his car without insurance.

A guilty plea was put to magistrates by Doherty's lawyer on his behalf, during a hearing in Lowestoft, Suffolk.

The court was told that Doherty, of Marlborsough, Wiltshire, had been given a 18-month driving ban and a £2,050 fine in December at Gloucester Crown Court after admitting to drink-driving. The two bans will run concurrently and Doherty will not be able to re-apply for a licence until the 18-month ban has ended.

Andrew Boyd, the singer's manager, was jailed for a year last month after he was involved in a hit-and-run while driving the vehicle.

Boyd, 42, admitted a string of motoring offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without a licence or insurance during a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on February 24.
