A pensioner took a dangerous wrong turn when she drove down a high-speed rail track for 80 yards.
The 85-year-old woman and her 20-year-old passenger escaped unhurt after she drove down the line through Brockenhurst station in Hampshire's New Forest.
The British Transport Police said paramedics from the South Central Ambulance Service attended the incident after hearing reports of a car taking a prohibited turn at a level crossing.
A BTP spokesman said: "An 85-year-old woman driver and 20-year-old man were in the car at the time have been treated for shock, but no other injuries have been reported."
Officers and recovery vehicles attended the scene to remove the car, the spokesman added.
The incident caused some delays to rail services and a replacement bus service was introduced.
