London has been revealed as the car vandalism capital of the country, as criminals choose to target expensive cars such as BMWs and Porches, according to a survey.
The highest number of claims for malicious damage come from the London area, car insurance company elephant.co.uk said, after analysing 25,000 claims made over the last five years.
The BMW Z3 has been found to be the most-vandalised car, while the Chrysler Crossfire and the Porsche Cayenne also attracted the unwanted attention of vandals. Porsche is the most frequently targeted manufacturer.
West central London is the worst area for malicious damage, while the east central, west and south west regions of the capital are also vandalism hot spots. Edinburgh and Glasgow were also in the top 10 worst-affected areas list.
Brian Martin, managing director at elephant.co.uk, said, "It would appear that certain models are more likely to be vandalised than others. Our research shows the top 10 is made up entirely of either expensive luxury cars or soft tops."
