Green Flag responds to misleading article in The Daily Mirror

9 January 2007

An article in the Daily Mirror (8 January: Cheaper is better - budget products outperform their expensive rivals) compares breakdown prices from the AA and Green Flag. However, Green Flag claims the prices quoted are inaccurate and information provided misleading. In the article, the newspaper compares products provided by the AA and Green Flag. However, the comparison is not like-for-like and inaccurate prices were reported. The item compares the cost of AA's basic cover product, Option 100 against Green Flag's Rescue Plus, a second level product that offers cover for people who breakdown at home.

According to www.theAA.com (January 9), Option 100 costs from £31.80 while the equivalent cover from Green Flag costs from £30 (source: page 12, The Times, 9 January).

AA Option 200 is quoted at £67.88 while the equivalent cover from Green Flag (website) would be in the region of £49 (based on rating criteria).
