Be safety conscious
Nothing is more important than saving a life.

In memory of Livia Galli-Atkinson, 16 who died on 12 January 1998
Livia was walking on a pavement near her home in Enfield on 12 January 1998 when a car mounted the kerb, demolished a road sign and injured another pedestrian before knocking her down, killing her.
The fact that the crash occurred on a pedestrian right of way has made it more difficult for Livia's parents, George and Giulietta, and sister Bianca, to come to terms with her death.
It is all too easy, but potentially fatal, to be in a rush, drive when too tired, or find your mind wandering and make mistakes. This kills innocent people with families and friends. Don't forget...
The responsibility is yours
It is your responsibility to prevent your vehicle from hitting people in other vehicles, on bikes or horses, or on foot, whether they are on the road, on pavements or at a crossing.
Always drive with caution
Expect other road users to make mistakes. A child who chases a ball into a road does not deserve to die.
Never take risks
Because the risk is that someone will die. Imagine how you would feel if you killed someone.
Be calm
Sit quietly for a minute before driving if you are stressed, angry, upset or excited. Think of things that wind you up on the road, such as traffic and other drivers. Accept them as inevitable and make a decision not to get uptight.
Never rush
If you are late, stop to ring ahead and let someone know you will not be on time. Always drive well within speed limits. Never overtake unless it's absolutely necessary, for example, because the vehicle in front is very slow moving and you are 100% certain the road is clear.
Concentrate at all times
Be on constant lookout for dangers ahead. Limit your conversation with passengers and impress them with your safe driving. Don't use a mobile phone while driving, even a hands-free one. Never drive if you are tired.
